Webcomic: The Mayans – Day 1

First official story post!  I’m excited.  Anyway the character is still Tair, I’ve just changed the style of the drawing (may still post full colour images from time to time).  Thinking I need to invest in a scanner though; camera isn’t producing a clear enough image.

Anyway, what do you think?  Let me know in the comments below.

    Hey Heather,

The pet actually looks like one of those gremlin or it even looks like it could be a tiny dog.

I just love dogs so I had to comment that.

I also love the detail in the picture here.

    • Thank you!

I actually saw the pet as a sort of lemur/fantasy creature thing… it’s been appearing in my drawings for the better part of a year now. I just find it really cute. :) Dogs are pretty awesome though

  5. Eric says:

Cool. Yeah I’ve always loved dogs… Had a dog most of my life growing up. Not now though so I’m hoping to have one later in the future.

Great start, I like the style and the pet. Curious though on what the message will be on the answering machine.

  7. I think I need to go back and read the introductions as I am soooo confused ;) I’ll be back after I’ve had a chance to read the introductions!

    • OK, I’m back ;) I don’t know if this is your intention but I’m loving your use of colour (or lack of ;) ) because it makes Tair’s life seem dull and tiring. When the baby dragon then pops up out of Tair’s bag in purple, my eye was then drawn to him/her/it right away. You are very clever.

If you ever fancy honing your skills on a GAB animation project you know where to come ;) This is seriously fun. I too am looking forward to what comes next. Fab idea!

      • Yep the colour is deliberate :) The idea there is that the background will be greyscale, with the characters in colour (well, with some exceptions which we’ll get to in a while). I really love the pet myself, as I mentioned in one of the other comments it’s been showing up in my drawings for a while now… been dying to use it! ;)

Definitely! I’ll have a think, though a little busy at the moment with college unfortunately. Glad you’re enjoying the webcomic though, thank you!

While living at my girlfriend’s mom’s apartment about a year ago we had a Weimaraner and I loved that dog to pieces.

I’d love to have a dog like that again. His name was Lenny and he was a wonderful dog. Friendliest dog you’d ever met.
