Hehe, starting to think that I should have chosen a different title… I based it on what a lot of the 3D forums I frequent call their competitions based on skill, but in abstract it does sound like I meant something completely different.

I think I’ve won something ONCE and that was from a random draw competition I only really join the ‘challenges’ because of the learning opportunities there.

Damn Heather, I reckon I’m going to show my age on this one, but when I read your title I was thinking of something entirely different. I was thinking more along the line of challenges that you get whilst waking the road of life. If that was the case I was going to answer yes.

Seeing as how the post isn’t about that at all, I would still have to say yes if the prize was worthwhile, unless you’re me who never wins a damn thing

Challenges are quite fun and can do a lot for your blog and everyone else. They’re not just about winning but it’s nice to be able to share things by doing them with all kinds of people around the world. It’s always awesome to interact with people and get things going.

I haven’t done well any challenges. I have seen them and read about them and they do sound interesting, but I think like you said they are time consuming and I don’t think I can find the time right now. Though I would like to someday. I think your right it does help to gain exposure.

Contests are fun too, but they don’t really offer much in the way of help for most people (unless of course you win, that’s a different story ).

I’m going to assume you meant the positives outweigh the disadvantages lol, but yes – free advice is good and this has been a relatively effective way to gain that. Being fair, there are some things you can (apparently) only learn by paying, but if you’re willing to look you can learn just about anything for free or cheaply!

Hmm… prize… I don’t suppose I can count contests themselves here, so technically nothing. However, I gained more than enough from advice to make it worthwhile (and there’s always just enough hope to keep you coming back to try again =P)
