That second setting you described sounds similar enough that you'd probably enjoy it. You know, except that it isn't strictly the Amazon and the creatures are far more beautiful and deadly. Not played it myself but my boyfriend definitely sings its praises (though you may want to get it in console form if that's an option for you). Other things I can think of from the top of my head include Spectrobes (more of a DS thing - but you dig up fossils then excavate them, battle monsters, etc), Heroes V (I'll be reviewing this at some point soon), and possibly even Overlord (you control small minions and act all evil, seems good for pick up and play though). I may need to think about something less serious at times here. My only prob is that I would get so involved I'd probably not get anything done. Period! But I'm willing to give it a shot with a game or two just not something along the D & D line. Got anything else in mind?
