Easy 360 Animation using Splines (Video Tutorial)
Need to show off a character or asset in a 360 degree animation, but when you try it looks all bumpy and unprofessional? I’m going to show you a very quick trick I learned back in first year that’ll smooth it out and make it a lot easier than hand animating the camera.
Today we’re going to try something a little different in terms of delivery; I’ve just downloaded CamStudio so we’ve got a video tutorial instead of the standard layout. Let me know what you think! (and yes, I know the audio gets a little messed up when I start rendering – sorry about that everyone; my computer can’t multi-task apparently)

As I mentioned in the video, I was using a model created by Keir Heriot which I then textured and lit myself. The technique for the 360 was fairly straight forward, though hopefully it was useful for some of you.
Parting Words
If you’d like the tutorials in a more standard layout as well/instead of the video then let me know in the comments below. Any questions, please ask – it’s what I’m here for.
Last thing, the model you saw will be available as a wallpaper soon; in either green, blue, red, or purple (or all four in the same wallpaper). If it’s something you think you’d be interested in give me a shout. Thanks for watching, have a great day, and I’ll see you all again on Friday!

Well good video Heather… Perhaps it was only my PC, but sound quality was low, Hard to hear. Also, at 6:26 the video forgets the codec? Maybe the upload didn’t work right or something lol…
Also, I think the video could have been better if you enabled/downloaded a mouse show program. If you know what I mean, So it has a circle around the arrow to make it stand out more. Was kind of hard to follow it again. But again that may just be mine. Not being used to the program.
Accent, Well I can’t really comment on that. Since it’s about the same as me.
Keep the video tutorials =)
Hm… perhaps my microphone, I know that sometimes people on Skype have trouble hearing me as well – may need to replace it. Around 6:26 I start rendering and it eats my computer; in future I won’t be rendering in the video itself lol.
The circle around the arrow thing is worth looking into though; thanks for the advice!
Glad you liked it though.
Heather,
You have such a cute accent!
It’s really nice to put a voice to your writings.
Great first video! I’m sure the more you do, the better they will get, but this is a great first one.

Thanks James!
Great video nice job. I love the accent and I don’t have difficulty understanding what your saying for the most part. I have relations from Scotland so I’ve had some ear training you might say. Actually I made out what your saying easier than I have with them many times.
Nice job. Was this your first video? If it is it’s hard to realize. You seemed professional and like you’ve been at it for a while.

Thanks Lee! Yea it was my first video (unless you count the one I did right before this; it didn’t record properly so this is actually a retake), so that’s an amazing compliment!
Good to know I can still be understood though, I’ll admit to being a little worried about that previously.
Thanks for the comments
Heather… the accent is only an accent when you are from somewhere else… I love accents anyway… great video for someone who knows NOTHING about this type of thing I enjoyed it, great job
