The semester’s over (at least, in the UK), you’ve been working really hard to finish off all your work, there’s new classes about to start and/or starting… It’s time for a break.
I have a bit of a confession to make; yesterday I took a break. A long break. I left home and got on the first bus I saw (which happened to be to Edinburgh) then went and saw a movie I hadn’t even heard of before. I had a ton of work still to do which I’ll now have to address before Friday, but I feel so much better for it.
Take it from me – the world will not end if you give yourself a day off. Go ahead and relax, find something fun to do that you’d normally feel guilty about taking time off for. Have a ball.
I sure did and I’m fairly certain the world’s still spinning on without me.
Short post today; I’m starting Tai Chi a little later on and I want a breath before the storm of new classes. I’ll be back with our regularly scheduled tutorials on Wednesday – have a good day everyone!

Breaks are important and hard for us blogaholics to take – especially if we are still in the early stages of progress – but I agree, if you don’t take a break now and then things will happen that will force that break on you and seldom are those “things” pleasant!
Here’s to more frequent breaks!

Hey Valentina – thanks for stopping by!
Breaks are good for you. They stop you from riding headlong into a wall at the end of the hill- wait, nvm, wrong sort of ‘break’. Joking aside you’re absolutely right – if we don’t choose when we’re going to take a rest and relax then something else will do it for us.
I’d prefer to plan them
HAHA!!
I just took a break last weekend for nearly two full days from my blog and life. It was so great to relax and have no agenda.
Looks like we may all sort of be on the same wavelength.

Think we all need one now and then
Except maybe James. I swear, he runs like a furnace and someone’s always stocking him up with coal…
This is so weird Heather because I was just thinking of writing about post about procrastination (not in a bad way, of course) and you’ve inspired me even more here!
Taking a break when things still have to get done is a good motivator to put on yourself to forcing yourself to actually get those things done before the deadline. This isn’t good to do all the time but every once in a while, just taking a break from life and then coming back with work to do will put a drive behind you to get everything done as it should be, I think.
Great post and hope you had a great time.
Looking forward to more good updates!

Eric´s last blog ..Lets Help Each Other
Ooo can’t wait for that Eric; looking forward to it appearing in my Reader.
It’s funny actually, after taking my break I happily went on and did a better quality of work than I would have if I’d stayed muddling on (and I got it done). Also good for evaluating what’s important and removing some of the busy-work.
Thanks for stopping by!
You are so right. I keep thinking about learning Tai Chi but I keep putting it off. Are you going to share with us?
I hadn’t actually thought about doing so, but if you’re interested I could do.
What I noticed most about yesterday’s class was the amount of aches and tense parts in my body that I’d just never noticed before (particularly in my shoulders and back). It was actually really difficult, yet soothing too. Course, I can’t untense my shoulders much yet
I think that you’d probably enjoy it though Ralph; I’m just glad I’m starting now.

Some times you just have to take a step back and take some time off.
A great reminder – thanks
I sometimes think that knowing when to take time off is more important than the work itself (in some cases), great for avoiding burnout.
Unless you’re James.
Thanks for stopping by Ben!
